Awake at 5.39am.
Can't get wifi connection at this apartment, but Julia can. That is so frustrating. Big day ahead.
Have to make up a big bike box out of two child bike boxes. And we need to make it strong enough to hold 30kg. Think we'll need two rolls of tape.
But first an early morning walk along the front taking in the super yachts.
Stopped just under the fortress and in for a dip. Then out onto some concrete just in front of the walls to do our routines. Had an audience for a while.
All the male crew on "Ninenka", the biggest one moored this morning were busy watching. Not sure they'd have been too interested in me, but I put one hand on my hip, threw my hair back, pouted my lips, then shouted
"Hello Sailor!"
Workout was lovely in the early morning warmth, followed by a nice walk back, via a bakery for two small baguettes.
Dishes done and now we had to get these bikes packed.
We'd half done Julia's yesterday but quickly finished that off, strategically placing clothing and equipment around vulnerable bike parts and strapping the tent to the top tube.
All packed up and ready to go.
Then it was onto building my box. We actually did a pretty good job and it was sturdy enough to take the weight of the bike and some gear, although we kept it lighter than Ju’s bike box.
That took us until 1pm when we figured we needed some lunch, so a wander to the supermarket saw us return with a full chicken and salad.
Enough for dinner as well, so after washing dishes we began wrapping the boxes in tape, once everything that needed to be in, was in.
Afternoon rolled by and after dinner we took a stroll through the "Old Town".
It was as I remembered it.
Julia loved it and could understand why I have a fondness for this town.
Everything about it has been done well and there is a classy feel to it.
The lighting was ideal for photographs and it was a great way to finish off our time here.
I can't see us coming back in another forty years, but it's been very nostalgic.
Back to the apartment where we watched a bit of Graeme Norton, very funny.
We decided we should probably book an extra 10kg bag each to be on the safe side but had problems with trying to check in online and pay for two extra bags .
Wouldn't let us complete the form, couldn't scroll to the bottom of the page and then wouldn't accept Ju’s card, my card or even Irena’s card.
Turns out that the page had timed out, well we think, cos it didn't actually tell us that. But we went out of the page and started again and we were eventually able to check in and purchase additional bags. By now it was 10.50pm and we were desperate for sleep.
Now that was a full day, good work with the boxes and thank goodness for that gray tape. yes a beautiful town no wonder you are fond of it, maybe you will see it again not on bikes but ordinary tourist who knows ! Looking forward to seeing Peggy on the Blog. Just hope the weather is not too cold when you get there.
