Made a huge faux-pas this morning.
At 6.55am I gave Julia a nudge to wake her. I only did it because yesterday walking back to camp after our swim and workout, we were drenched as the sun was hot. So thought we should go earlier….
Big mistake, which I won't make again, until I make another.
I know she needs sleep, especially at present, so it was a fair call, but the intention was to beat the heat of the sun.
After a very long and quiet walk down to the beach, we swam in the lovely water and then did a workout on the deserted beach.
Even less people about today than yesterday.
It was very calming soaking in the early morning sun on the beach and the walk back was a lot more comfortable than yesterday’s.
Nice, relaxing breakfast followed by a call to Dave, who had San away at conference.
Did some washing and bought more water from the shop as it closes at 2pm today. Decided to explore a bit more so took a walk up the road and down a track, through a bar...yes literally, you walk through the bar….to get to a bay, the kind of bay we have been dreaming of since we got here.
Only one day left, but at least we got to experience the pleasure of this gorgeous setting (and we'll most probably come here again tomorrow).
A couple of swims there, diving off the rocks into that unbelievably clear water. It was that clear, you weren't entirely sure when you were going to hit the water when you dived in.
There was a young, loud, “in your face” American there with his just as loud body beautiful Aussie girlfriend, but not even they could ruin it.
Back for some fruit and nuts and afterwards a coffee, before showers and a wander down the road for dinner.
As we were headed out, two English bikepackers arrived on a ten day trip around Corfu, so we had a bit of a chat.
Off down to the Cactus for Gyros.
Delicious.
Watched Arsenal v Man City.....1 - 1.
Great result for Liverpool as Bournemouth and Tottenham drew and we have a five point lead over second place.
We have found our favourite places here and got into a nice little routine. Now we're really glad we came to Corfu and extra glad we bought that cheap lilo.
Back to camp for a coffee to finish off a day that didn't start so well, but ended on a really good note.
Oh wow, that bay and yesterday's are gorgeous! Nice way to finish your European leg of the trip
