14 August 2025 (sunny and extremely hot) 41km

Woke 5.26am. Didn't need to take the flysheet off as it was that hot, we didn't need to put it on.

Great camp except for a weird German motorcyclist, who spent half the time he was setting up, talking to himself.

And the Germans won the overall noisy bastards award last night, when a group of the ignorant sods sat up talking on their apartment balcony behind the camp, til 2am.

Off around the Coastal road, busy even at 6.30am. By 7.15am we were looking for our first swim, which we took in a beautiful little bay, with just the odd person out walking.

Off and riding, the traffic getting heavier. At 9am, having already picked up a few bits from a small shop, we came across a Plodine supermarket just before the turn off to Rogoznica. Grabbed the remaining stuff for brekky, then turned off the main road onto a smaller one leading to the bay and beaches. It may have been a smaller road but it was still busy. Full of holiday makers and all the cafes were heaving.

Cycled past all the cafes/bars until we found a quiet little beach which gave us all we required. Lots of shade from pine trees and a place to sit and eat breakfast, which was preceeded by the second swim of the day, and it's only 9.15am.

But what a nice spot.

Yachts and cruisers coming in and going out as we sat and enjoyed our breakfast.

Is anyone up for going shares in a house in a bay like this in Croatia??

10.30am...it's sizzling hot...I mean the sweat is running off my face standing in the shade.

Just had another swim and drying off just standing here.

Julia wants to go cycle round the island track rather than venture further along the main road.

By 12pm we were around the top end of the island and had already had one or two swims.

We had shade as we were tucked into a wall which the sun wouldn't reach til much later.

Water equally as nice as first place.

Julia found a camp, just around the corner. Up a bloody steep hill, probably fourteen percent. Pulled in, didn't look too promising. Spoke to a guy on his deck who told us they weren't open anymore.

Found another, over the bridge turn left, etc...etc

My handlebars were catching the sweat from my face now. So uncomfortable.

Albania= 44

Italy = 48

Spain = 46.7

We are still mid to late 30's, so I guess we'll be thankful for that.

Pulled into Markos Camp. No one there. We waited with a French couple and a camper phoned Marko, who to his credit, turned up smartish.

Booked us in and under a sun shade for Euro 27 and it has a pool.

Yee haa!!

A bite of lunch and into the pool. We spent the afternoon lazing around the pool and taking swims.

But we spent a huge amount of time on our phones trying to find a way out of Europe for a half decent price.

I worked on one flight for over an hour and we thought we'd cracked it.

Emirates to Auckland from Sarajevo for $2800 for us both with one stop.

Turns out that was Euros, so $5600 NZ.

Just after 6pm we rode to the supermarket and bought ingredients for a lovely, healthy dinner, which went down a treat.

What didn't go down well with me, was when I went to transfer the blog to Julia and it disappeared completely.

The effort that goes into those pieces and its gone without a trace.

So, for me, the afternoon hasn't gone that well.

I'm starting to feel trapped and the longer we stay in Schengen countries, the sooner the non Schengen countries will be our only option and that doesn't fill me with joy.

As I finish this off there are clouds brewing both over the sea and mountains.

Maybe we're in for a storm tonight?

  1. Well you are certainly eating well and the shops seem to have what you like. I thought you were going to Greece ? any way the swimming looks smashing and a good job imagine going without in that heat. Good luck with the flights.
